This limited edition photo book was shot by renowned photographer Rebecca Naen, designed and published by Darklight in support of Fight Forward.
Documenting the journey of ten women on an intensive boxing training programme culminating in a fight in the ring, in order to raise awareness of domestic abuse. For many of the women it has been an opportunity to share their own stories of survival, and face their experience of domestic violence head on.
The 100 page book includes photographs taken on fight night, scenes from training and portraits of participants, including Darklight co-Founder Sarah Williams.
'My own experience of domestic violence was an extremely difficult and scary time in my life, but something I’ve always brushed under the carpet as just “something that happened.” For me, boxing has been a safe space where I can feel empowered and strong, mentally and physically. So when Lesley told me about Fight Forward I felt this was a time to confront what has happened to me and create something positive from it through my own company, Darklight. We have an opportunity to use our platform to reach a wider audience, make an impact, bring awareness to the cause and create something powerful and beautiful."
Their empowering journey has been followed by photographer Rebecca Naen, a portrait, fashion and lifestyle photographer whose clients include Adidas, Converse, Nike, The Guardian, and British GQ.
